Marie Rass Obituary

Marie T. Rass, age 101, of Brussels, died at home on Feb. 22, 2026.  She was born September 18, 1924, in Lincoln, WI, the daughter of the late Max and Clara (Pinchart) Jandrin. On May 12, 1942, she married Edwin Rass in Lincoln. He preceded her in death on September 17, 2004.

Throughout her life, she created a home filled with warmth, generosity, and the kind of quiet strength that made everyone around her feel safe and supported.

Her family was her greatest joy. Whether she was cooking a favorite meal, offering a listening ear, or simply being present, she made each person feel valued. Alongside her husband, she also farmed for many years, working the land with dedication and love.

Her faith was the foundation of her life. It shaped her resilience, her kindness, and her ability to find hope even in difficult moments. Marie was a devoted member of St. Francis & St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she faithfully served for 39 years, caring for the church through cleaning and doing laundry; only recently retiring at age 101.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law: Ken Rass, Neale (Mary) Rass, and Jody (Colleen) Rass; grandchildren: Maureen Nellis, Miranda (Brian) Folletz, Renee (Randy) Glesner, Mindy Rass, Meghan (Greg) Austin, Garrett (Alyssa) Rass, Noah Rass, Breanna (Jacob) Smith, Emily Rass (Trevor Gau), Hanna (Kyle) Manson, and Cooper Rass; great grandchildren: Jason Folletz, Justina Surdahl, Abby (Zach) Evers, Wyatt Austin, Izabella Kimber, Mason Smith, Tate Smith, Asher Gau; great-great grandchild Elle Surdahl. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by two sons: Neale and Monte, one daughter: Jane; daughter-in-law: Sharon Rass, granddaughters: Melissa Rass and Marney Rass, two brothers: Anthony (Madeline) Jandrin and Edward (Angeline) Jandrin; two sisters: Myrtle (Bill) Cochart and Elsie (Eugene) Dhuey.

A special thank you to Sue Johnson for her loving friendship, constant support, and all the ways she has been there for Marie over the years.
